Clinical study on Ginkgo Biloba
Scientists at the University of Osnabrück researched 29 clinical studies on Ginkgo Biloba. They found that it improves various cognitive abilities, such as attention or verbal and visual long-term memory. A total of 2414 patients had participated in the 29 studies, which lasted between 3 weeks and 8 months.
The valuable flavonoids
With the highly concentrated Ginkgo Biloba extract you get a special content of flavone glycosides. These belong to the secondary plant substances, i.e. the substances that provide strength or protection in plants. The most important representatives of the flavone glycosides are contained. Of the 24 percent flavone glycosides are:
- 13.6 % Quercetin
- 11.1 % Kaempfero
- 2.1 % isorhamnetin
Terpene lactones
The second important group of active components in ginkgo are terpene lactones. The representatives of this group that determine the effectiveness of ginkgo are the ginkgolides A, B, C and J. They make up the following proportion of terpene lactones:
- 2.3 % Ginkgolide A
- 0.9 % Ginkgolide B
- 0.9 % Ginkgolide C
- 0.3 % Ginkgolide J
Special extract - no leaf powder!
In order to offer you a particularly effective form of ginkgo, the capsules contain 100 mg of pure special extract in a ratio of 50:1. With this special extract, the active ingredients are found in a particularly high concentration.
When buying, make sure that it is an extract. There are preparations on the market that advertise a content of 500 mg ginkgo per capsule. On closer inspection, however, it is often only 500 mg of ground leaf powder, which contains only a small fraction of the active components.
