Description
Vitamin D3 - The sun vitamin
Vitamin D is often called the sun vitamin because the body normally makes it itself by absorbing sunlight. The vitamin D produced is stored in the liver and fatty tissue. In the summer months, the body's own stores can be replenished through regular exposure to sunlight.
Vitamin D deficiency in summer and winter!
Large parts of the population suffer from a vitamin D deficiency. The deficiency occurs when there is a lack of sunlight. A supply through sunlight alone is usually not sufficient because we spend a lot of time indoors or block the sunlight with UV protection or clothing. To avoid a vitamin D deficiency, you should then supply your body with vitamin D in another way.
The consequences of vitamin D deficiency include osteoporosis, rickets, susceptibility to infections and weakness, and even burn-out syndrome.
Natural vitamin D3 from lanolin
Vitamin D in capsule form is often synthetically produced or obtained from cod liver oil. The vitamin D3 capsules from ZeinPharma, on the other hand, contain vitamin D obtained from lanolin. Lanolin is the wool wax that comes from the fur of sheep. Lanolin is considered a vegetarian product.
What does I.E. mean?
Vitamin D3 capsules from ZeinPharma are available in several strengths from 1,000 to 5,000 I.U.. I.E. stands for "International Unit", which is often used in medicine. This unit is defined specifically for each substance:
1 I.U. vitamin D3 corresponds to 0.025 µg.
1,000 I.U. vitamin D3 corresponds to 25 µg.
5,000 I.U. vitamin D3 corresponds to 125 µg.
The daily requirement depends on the target group and the time of year and is based on the recommended guideline value of the Society for Nutrition, which is currently 800 I.U. for an adult. At a strength of 5,000 I.U., the intake of one capsule per week is usually sufficient.
